 SNMG1 ( Standing NATO Response Force Maritime Group 1 ) . Units assigned to this force are mostly from countries with access to the Atlantic. The group is usually formed with up to eight units, generally destroyers and frigates. Initially established in 1968, as Standing Naval Force Atlantic and commonly known as STANAVFORLANT. Recently changed it´s original name, due to changes in NATO doctrine. Currently is one the groups forming the maritime component of NATO´s Response Force ( NRF ). It´s area of operations include eastern Atlantic, and in recent years, being part of operation Active Endeavour, also includes the Mediterranean. ...See data
